Norway - Åndalsnes

Åndalsnes is a small town at the edge of Sunnmøre Alps, east of Ålesund. It’s a popular place as it’s close to the Troll Wall (Trollveggen; apparently everything in Norway has something to do with trolls), tallest vertical rock face in Europe with 1100 m of drop. The town also has gondolas that go from the port to one of the peaks above it, with views on the fjord and the mountains. We did not visit the restaurant on the top, but it looks fancy!

Trollveggen is in the back of this valley

We didn’t see any, but every year, hundreds of climbers come here to try and climb Trollveggen. It’s also a popular place for base jumping, parachuting and other suicidal sports - lots of people died here doing those (base jumping is forbidden here since mid-eighties, but people do it anyway).

the wall looks more impressive live than on photo

We did some hikes in the mountains around the town, and we had a great weather!
